From our humble beginnings…

Since our founder, August Paris, opened his first dry cleaning plant in 1918, the goal of Paris Companies has been to create lasting relationships.  Through the years, our greatest strength is the level at which our employees interact with our customers.  Together we have built Paris Companies.

The business grew rapidly, over the early years, in the small town of Brockway, PA as Paris Veri-Safe Drycleaners.  In 1945, Portage Cleaners bought out Mr. Paris and, in 1951, Mr. Jack Stern purchased the business.  It incorporated into Paris Cleaners in 1960, continuing to grow through 1973, when Jack’s son, David, joined the company. 

Jack’s entrepreneurship and work ethic carried over to David, as he used his father’s values, mentoring, and teachings to continue to expand the business.  In 1975, Paris Uniform Rental & Supply Company was born, and the company moved to DuBois, PA in 1980.  In 1986, the company moved to an even larger facility - its present location on Hoover Ave, DuBois.  As the industrial laundry and uniform rental business developed, the philosophy of “always keeping the customer first” remained a constant business principle.

The year, 1990, marked the start of another diversification for Paris, as the company was approached by area hospitals.  Paris was able to leverage its business knowledge and expertise in the industrial laundry business, into the business of healthcare linens.  Hospitals and healthcare facilities needed to become more efficient, and they began to recognize the advantages of outsourcing their linen laundering function. Paris’ strategy proved effective, and a new division, now known as Paris Healthcare Linen Services, evolved, providing linen management services to healthcare facilities. Continued growth in healthcare linens led to opening additional healthcare linens facilities in Williamsport and Pittsburgh, PA.  In 2004, as a measure of Paris’ continued growth in healthcare linens and to better serve the expanding business opportunities in the Ohio region, Paris Healthcare Linens Services built a state-of-the-art facility in Ravenna, Ohio.

Through the years, along with our dedication to building customer relationships, we pride ourselves on our ongoing culture of process improvement and technological innovation, to better serve our customers’ needs.  Paris Companies continues to build its reputation on a commitment to understand and meet each customer’s needs, however large or small.  The trusting relationships that develop from this commitment are essential elements of the personal and business success that has followed Paris from its beginnings.

If we’ve learned anything over our nearly 90 year history, it’s that trust is everything.  Our business has grown because we’ve demonstrated that our customers can depend upon us to consistently deliver the product and the promise.
